RTK Surveys

RTK Geodetic Drone Surveys — Centimetre Precision

The RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) module on our drone provides centimetre-level positioning accuracy in real time. We create digital terrain models, elevation maps and earthwork volume measurements without the need for ground control points.

What do RTK drone surveys cover?

📍

Digital Terrain Models (DEM/DSM)

Creating precise elevation models at 1–3 cm/pixel resolution. Ready for hydrological analysis, road design and investment planning.

📐

Earthwork Volume Measurements

Fast and accurate calculation of stockpile, excavation and embankment volumes without manual surveying. Saves time and minimises material accounting errors.

🗺️

RTK Orthophotomaps

Georeferenced aerial imagery with centimetre accuracy, ready for import into GIS, AutoCAD and other design tools. Ideal for terrain inventory.

📊

Terrain Profiles and Cross-Sections

Automatic generation of longitudinal profiles and cross-sections from 3D point clouds. Essential for road, utility and linear infrastructure designers.

🔄

Terrain Change Monitoring

Comparing successive RTK flights allows precise measurement of terrain changes — earthwork progress, ground settlement or slope erosion.

💾

GIS and CAD Data

We export data in GeoTIFF, LAS, E57, DXF and shapefile formats. Direct import into QGIS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center and more.

Who are RTK drone surveys for?

RTK drone surveys are the solution for anyone who needs precise spatial data over large areas — faster and cheaper than traditional ground-based surveying. The RTK module eliminates the need for ground control points (GCPs), reducing execution time by up to 60%. We deliver data in PL-2000 and PL-1992 coordinate systems, ready for direct import into GIS and CAD tools.

Surveyors and geodetic offices — rapid point cloud and orthomap acquisition complementing traditional total station measurements
Construction and road companies — earthwork volume measurements (stockpiles, excavations, embankments) for material accounting
Developers and designers — current terrain models for investment, road and infrastructure network design
Municipalities and public authorities — terrain inventory, maps for spatial development plans and building permits
Open-pit mines and storage yards — periodic volume measurements with total-station-comparable accuracy but many times faster

How do RTK drone surveys work?

1

Needs analysis

We determine the survey objective, required accuracy, data format and coordinate system. We check RTK signal availability at the site location.

2

Mission planning

We design the flight plan with optimal image overlap, flight altitude and GSD resolution. We calibrate the RTK module with the GNSS reference station network.

3

Photogrammetric flight

The drone with active RTK module performs the planned flight, collecting hundreds of georeferenced images. Each image position is known to 1–2 cm accuracy.

4

Processing and export

From raw data we generate orthophotomaps, digital terrain models (DEM/DSM), point clouds and profiles. We export in GeoTIFF, LAS, E57, DXF and shapefile formats.

When should you order RTK surveys?

Pre-investment terrain inventory
Stockyard volume measurements
Construction earthwork monitoring
Road and infrastructure design
Maps for building permits
Land reclamation monitoring

Frequently Asked Questions About RTK Surveys

How does RTK surveying differ from standard photogrammetry?
Standard photogrammetry requires ground control points (GCPs) measured with a total station. RTK eliminates this step — the drone receives precise position corrections in real time from the GNSS reference station network, achieving 1–2 cm accuracy without GCPs.
How accurate are RTK drone measurements?
The RTK module on the DJI Matrice 4T provides horizontal accuracy to 1 cm and vertical to 1.5 cm in RTK mode. This is comparable to professional total station surveying but achieved significantly faster and over larger areas.
How large an area can be surveyed in one flight?
A single flight can cover 5 to 50 hectares, depending on the required resolution and flight altitude. For typical construction surveys (2–3 cm/px), we cover approximately 10–15 ha per session.
Is RTK drone data accepted by surveyors?
Yes. Our data meets the accuracy standards required in engineering surveying. We deliver point clouds and orthophotomaps in the coordinate systems used in Poland (PL-2000, PL-1992). Many surveyors use our data to complement their own measurements.
How much do RTK drone surveys cost?
Price depends mainly on area size and required accuracy. A building plot survey (up to 1 ha) starts from PLN 800 net. For larger areas we offer attractive per-hectare rates. Quotes are always free.
What conditions are needed for RTK surveys?
RTK surveys require good GNSS satellite visibility — best results in clear or partly cloudy skies. We fly in winds up to 12 m/s. Rain and fog may reduce image quality but don't affect RTK positioning accuracy.
How quickly will I receive the finished data?
RTK data processing typically takes 2–5 business days, depending on area size. Raw images and GPS metadata are delivered within 24h of the flight. Express processing (48h) is available for an additional fee.
